A very big "thank you!"  to all of you who submitted title suggestions for this years Pink Garden Tea painting. With so many excellent titles to choose from, the task was a difficult one.  With Debbie's help (organizer of tea), we narrowed down the choices.  And after careful consideration the title chosen is "Cup Of Hope".

The winner of the chosen title wishes to remain anonymous; however I have decided that everyone else who suggested a title is also a winner!!!  So I will be sending each of you one of my fine art notecards!!!  (I will leave you a message on fb or your blog or through email to request your mailing address and your choice of card - teacup or other.)

"Women supporting Women"
The theme for this years tea is a "Pink Garden Tea Spa" to be held Saturday, July 27th.
There will be 2-3 sittings and this year the focus is on creating a very special spa environment for all the women who attend.  Enjoy a Tea served under the Pink Tent outside in the gardens with beautifully dressed tables and fine china, fresh scones, tea sandwiches and desserts.
Relax in a tranquil setting with music playing softly in the background and birds singing happily throughout the gardens.  Let yourself be pampered and enjoy the company of other women who share this day of happiness and hope for the future.

A donation box (no doubt a teacup) will be on hand for those who can and wish to leave a donation.  I am donating this original painting to be auctioned off in a silent auction.  All money raised will be used to cover the cost of the tea and used within the community for women or families affected by cancer in need of support and care.

"The quiet time that I spend in my studio allows me the opportunity to contemplate the poetic essence of a subject."  ~Peter Adams

In my last post I sent out a plea for help in naming this painting in-progress.  That may have been unfair as it still has a ways to go before being completed.  That didn't seem to faze many of you though, as I received several suggestions here, through email and on facebook.

*Here are just a few of the title suggestions so far:  The Promise, Rainbow Wishes, Gentle Reflections,   A Fresh Start, Joyful Delights, In Contemplation, Pleasant Musings, Today's Gift, Dream Time, Daily Celebrations, Of Hope And Fond Memories, The Pink Promise, Tulips And Tea-Thanks To The Bee.....

Thanks everyone!  I won't make any decision until the painting has been completed.  If you would like to add to these suggested titles or let me know your favorite from the above list, please leave a comment below.

The Ducks Are Quacking And The Daffodils Are Taking Shape!

"The world is your kaleidoscope, and the varying combinations of colors which at every succeeding moment it presents to you are the exquisitely adjusted pictures of your ever-moving thoughts."    ~James Allen

©Laura Leeder, Daffodils in Watercolour, Step 2, June 2013

That was just to get your attention!  The ducks aren't really quacking....yet!

I have enjoyed a wonderful few days visiting with my mother and younger sister.  We drove across the border and spent a few days visiting together in Couer d'Alene, and of course squeezed in some shopping!  They've now headed home and I am eager to get back into the studio and get my paint brushes wet once more!

I've only just started working on this one again, so not much progress, but, I thought I'd share it anyway!  I am using two colors by Daniel Smith Paints that are new for me.  Moonglow, a real pretty blended mix, which I've had for a while and only used once or twice.   (I am using this color to help create depth in the shadow area of the base and head of the pottery ducks.) The second color, is Phthalo Turquoise and I am very excited about this one!  It's mass is very dark and it washes out to a very pale robins egg blue.  It is a staining color that really packs a punch! I've used it here just below the water line in the center of the vase and on the body of the ducks along with phthalo blue and dark sap green.

TIP: When adding new colors to your chart, I always show the color in both its darkest and lightest value.    Now, when I glance at my charts to select colors for each painting, I have a much better sense of each colors capabilities and I can quickly choose the paints I wish to work with.

Do you have a new favorite tube of paint or a new color that you've added to your wardrobe or home decor?  Please share it here!  As always, your comments are appreciated!

Creatively Yours,
