"Peach With A Twist" - A Newly Completed Watercolor Painting

"You can accelerate your development by giving yourself a fresh set of challenges, or the same set viewed from a different angle, every day. Explore a different path – if it's a dead end, explore another."
  -Paul Foxton

Here is the completed "peach" study.  I am "leafing out"..... (couldn't resit that one), from my usual format.      I was about to remove some of the leaves, but decided that the way they twist around this peach would be interesting to paint.  I also liked the shapes created in the cast shadow from these leaves with a twist.

A Peach Study In Watercolor

"My Mama always said you've got to put the past behind you before you can move on."

Step 2

Not every painting is a success, as was the case with "cherries and lace" from my last post.  The more I worked on it...the less I liked it.  So, I decided not to work on it any further.  It has been moved into a very important file, my "scrap" file.  The backside will be used to test paints, etc.

I have moved on, and started this new study of a peach.  (I'm feeling better already!)

Cherries-A Watercolor Painting In Progress

"Color is the fruit of life."  ~Guillaume Apollinaire

Cherries and lace, so much fun to paint!  I use both warm and cool reds and pinks to develop the cherries.
Colors used in the background are from the Daniel Smith - Primatek line....they are quite granular, giving an interesting texture and sheen.

Have an awesome day,

Ivor & I have had a great time exploring Kootenay Lake over the summer.  These are images from a beautiful & secluded area we found and named "Laura's Beach".  We have spent many afternoon's here relaxing, picking rocks, snorkeling and just enjoying the view.

I have started working on a new painting and will post this soon.  If you've visited my blog in the past you may notice a few changes.  I've updated the overall look, and will be adding more information about my paintings and how they can be purchased.

I have joined the "DailyPaintWorks" group of artist's.  I am in the process of posting my paintings for sale through this site.  In October I plan to start painting "in the style" of the daily painters, creating small paintings.  (in my case, it will be weekly, not daily)

Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you'll stop by again....as always, your comment's are welcome.
